Planning your stay
A calm, honest guide to preparing for your stay
A little planning together makes for a safer, more comfortable stay. Below is what we provide as standard, what to bring, and the few situations where we may not be the right fit — so there are no surprises on arrival.
What ASH provides as standard
- Accessible accommodation with your chosen room and bathroom setup.
- Basic linen, towels, kitchen essentials and cleaning between stays.
- Standard PPE for our support workers.
- A small emergency supply of common consumables — for unexpected gaps only, not the full stay.
- A named contact person for the duration of the stay.
The full inclusions list is confirmed with your quote — some items depend on the accommodation you book.
What to bring for the stay
- Enough regular medications for the full stay (plus a few days' buffer).
- Oxygen bottles / cylinders arranged for delivery before arrival, if used.
- Wound-care supplies, dressings and prescribed creams.
- Continence aids for the full length of stay.
- Specialised feeds, formulas and PEG supplies.
- Personal equipment the participant already uses (slings, chargers, cushions).
- Any behaviour, mealtime or communication plans your team relies on.
What may be quoted separately
- 1:1 or 2:1 support ratios and active overnight shifts.
- Specialised equipment we need to hire in (e.g. ceiling hoist, hospital bed).
- Consumables beyond our emergency stock.
- Transport, day activities and community access.
- Allied health or nursing arranged on your behalf.
We share a written quote before you commit so you can see how your NDIS funding will be used.
When ASH may not be the right fit
Some clinical needs sit outside what our team can currently support safely. If any of these apply, please still contact us — we can talk it through and, where we can't help, we'll try to point you to a suitable provider.
- Tracheostomy with active suction needs (we don't currently offer suction).
- Acute or high-risk mental health presentations where safety of the participant, other guests or our staff cannot be assured.
- Care needs that require a hospital or 24-hour nursing setting.
This list evolves as our team's capabilities grow — please ask if you're unsure.
A note on honesty during your enquiry
The more we know up front, the better we can plan and price the stay. Please share every diagnosis and medication — even ones that feel "controlled" — and let us know about any behaviour or equipment needs. If we discover new needs on arrival, we may need to adjust the quote or, in rare cases, be unable to continue the stay for safety reasons. Being upfront protects everyone.
